Free Knit Patternshare on the goat

Please feel free to enjoy these patterns as much as I have.  If you find a mistake please contact Molly and I will do my best to fix what is wrong.  These are just some of the things that I have made on my own and thought you might enjoy them too.

Felted Pursehare on the goat

This is the most fun and easy purse ever.  And a great project for a beginning knitter.  I don’t worry about gauge or anything to make this purse.  I choose a yarn that I know will felt.  If you don’t know ask who you are purchasing your yarn from.  Then I take my circular needles and cast on 100 -120 stitches place a marker and connect around making sure there is no twist in you work.  Knit around and around till the purse is 1 ½ times taller then wider.  When I deem it the appropriate size use a 3 needle bind off.  Then I make an I-cord casting on anywhere from 4-7 stitches and make a long strap proportionate to your purse, or two handles proportionate to your purse.  And connect them to your purse, I use a tapestry needle.  Place the floppy wool bag in a garment bag, then use your washing machine (with an agitator in the middle) on a hot small wash cycle or on a larger hot cycle with jeans.  Keep agitating till it has felted to desired stiffness.  My washer takes about 20 min or more, but I check in there frequently.  In my experience the purses have shrunk down more, then from side to side, but I also have found that if my handles were in proportion to begin with they seem to be fine when they are all done.

Socks Yuh Feet Ah Coldhare on the goat

For those nights you need a little extra something to stay warm.  I like these ankle socks for the evening, when I have my feet up, while I knit.  I also wore them camping at night, and it was one of the few times I didn't wake up from being cold.

I worked these socks from the toe up and really enjoyed working in the honey comb pattern on the top.  This is for a size 7-8 ladies foot.

            Gauge: 9 st x 12 rows / 2 x 2in  on size 2 N

            8:  Same as Rnd 2

            9:  Same as Rnd 1

Rep rounds 1-9 of pattern on N1 and N2 till desired esired

Heel - I like to use the heel pattern from “The Twisted Sisters Sock Workbook”.  This book has been a great source of information for me as a knitter and spinner.   I really like how tidy this heel looks and if feels nice too.

I start by placing the knitting from N1 and N2 on a spare piece of yarn so it will be easier to work with, and won’t stretch out the corner stitches.  Then I start with a YO Kwise if I am knitting (the RS of the sock) or YO Pwise  if I am Purling (for the WS of the sock).  These YO will make a (couple).  K or P to the next couple (don’t K or P them), turn, and YO K or P to next couple.  Continue in this manner leaving each couple on N3 and N4.  Till 8 single st are left.  Turn Heel – Row 1(RS): YO, K across to first couple K1 st of couple and turn.  Row 2 (WS):  YO, P across to first pair and P1 st. Turn.  Row 3 (RS):  YO, K to previous row.  There you will find your 2 YO and row of couples.  Slip Kwise the YO and 1 st of next couple, return to Left N.  K3tog then turn.  Row 4 (WS):  YO, P across to other couples.  Slip YO and 1 st then replace them to Left N.  P3tog then turn.

Cuff – Place N1 and N2 back into your work remember to continue in your Honey Comb pattern on these N if desired.  I continued for about another inch.  Then I used a K2 P2 Rib for the rest of the cuff for 1 ½ inches more.  To bind off I used the invisible bind off.

This really is a fun pattern.  I was able to use one skein of that fabulous sock yarn on our For Sale page for both of these socks.  It was easy to work with, and you get a beautiful halo when your angora socks are washed in the washing machine.  Another good variation on this pattern would be to make a pair of tall socks continuing the honey comb pattern right up the leg and around to N3 and N4 (You would need 2 skeins of yarn for this).
