About Our Animals
Growing up with
animals is the most wonderful thing. What would we do
without them? I learned to knit and thought that it would be
really neat to have angora rabbits. With the little space I
had in our back yard, they were the perfect animal for us to
add. I was able to get two mixed angora bunnies from a lady
and instantly fell in love with their wooly personalities.
After doing some research I came to the conclusion that the
German and German Hybrid angoras were really what would work
best for what I was wanting; animals that produces a lot of
high quality fiber, and have great personality. Since purchasing my first two Germans I am more and more convinced that my research has paid off.
They have more then paid for themselves and fed my fiber
hobby well. My husband would testify and so would my
basement. I would love to share with you how they can
work for you.

Windsor
Farms Cadence: Born 5/05
REW (Red Eyed White) 100% German Buck.
He
is
always looking for a good massage at the door. He
has a nice body with a good set of shoulders.
Every time
I sheer him I am impressed again by the
amount of crimp he has.

Bungalow
Farms Klondike:
Born 1/09. REW 100% German Buck. Recently purchased from Erin at Bungalow Farms. Nuf said.
This last 90 day shearing gave me 380 gr which shows
that he is no slouch. He is still nice and
fine, and very clean. He was such a good boy
while I sheered. As I turned him while
sheering I could help but notice he is a hunk, maybe
even a hulk. I am sooo pleased he is here on
the farm.

Thee Hare's Thimble:
Born 3/07 Black 98.5% German Buck.
I love his texture it is creamy.
There is just something about the color and the way
it lays on him that makes you have to "feel that".
The best way to explain it is like waves of grain
while the sun shines on it. He is a black bunny, but I
would almost describe his yarn as blue.

Thee hare's
Mophibosheth
: Born 4/09. REW
98.5% German Buck. He is such a sweet bunny.
Out of my best doe Boquer Tove. I look forward
to seeing his potential. He is a very kind
bunny with a sweet personality. Mo is a
treasure!!!

Harvest
Moon's King Darius:
Born 2/09. Black 88.8% German Buck. I love this
little guy. He is sooo funny with such a sweet
personality. And he loves to go go go.
As you can see I had a hard time getting a good
photo of him, because he is a busy boy.
Recently I discovered how much personality means to me when I came across
a bunny who attacked me. That bunny will never
be part of my breeding program. All angoras
should be kind and
Never bite. Yes
all their personalities are different, but mean is
not an acceptable quality.

Fudge:
Recently here from the other side of OR. Fudge
is a bit on the neurotic side, but very kind all the
same. All of my bunnies get to go out on these
little supervised yard excursions.

Harvest Moon's Belle:
showing her good
side. Actually she doesn't have a bad side
just an ear that shows the character of what is
inside. She is very inquisitive. I
really like her! Her 90 day clip revealed 380
g of beautiful long fiber. 100% German REW
doe.

Windsor Farm's
Schwanli: Born 6/07 REW 100%German
doe. I love this bunny!! We just seem to
get along very well. She is so fun and
outgoing. She loves the romp around the yard,
and continually runs up to me for a good rub.
She is a big bodied doe from great lines. She
is exactly the bunny for the vision I have for my
farm. Her and all of her potential have a
forever home here.

Harvest
Moons Olympia:
Born 12/08. REW 92.2% German Doe. This
gal is still growing on me. I find her quite
quirky. I love her length on fiber. She
has already proven herself, as far as wool
production goes well over registration weight.
I can't wait to shear her again. I am temped
to do so before her 90 day time is up. She is
really amazing. I am so blessed to have her as
part of my barn.

Hare's Lizzie:

When I was growing up I had a pygmy goat named
Lizzie she was so much fun. I look forward to
see what this little gal produces.

Hare's Kittie:
Born 5/09 She is a REW Hybrid 74% German doe.
This little gal feels pretty dense to me right now.
I look forward to shearing her soon to find out her
potential is.
One thing I love about the IAGARB system is, it is all about the record
keeping. I enjoy looking at what these bunnies
are doing even at young ages.

Amber Angoras
Goshen:
Born
3/22/09. 63% German 37% Satin doe.
I was amazed to see all the luster when I gave her
her clip. She is beautiful! Her fiber
had rings of color all the way to the bottom.
Thank you Amber and Cheryl for such a fun girl. I can't wait for
more shearings of this.

 |
Muffin:
a torte doe only 50% German. My children have
claimed her as their own. Her color has not faded,
in the almost 2 years I have had her. For only
being 50% German she is very nice. As time goes on
she is getting more and more sweet. Her pretty
mascara eyes make her quite the lady.

Rabbit info
Research, Research, Research!! Do your homework before you buy. Be prepared to invest your time in any animal you consider purchasing.
This list by no means exhausts all that you should do
for your bunnies, but are key points for more research,
and before getting your own bunny.
- All animals need lots of clean fresh water.
- Do your research about
what foods are
available in your area. Along with a good
quality rabbit pellet I also give my bunnies hay to prevent
wool block (hairballs for rabbits).
- Cage space and shelter adequate to your
specific area. Taking equal consideration for
the cold and the heat.
- Time to shear each bunny every 90 days.
Time to enjoy and get to know what is normal for
your bunny.
- Worming on a regular basis.
- Treats and TLC to
help them produce to their fullest potential.
Pleasant Hill Farms Goat Gallery
Pleasant Hills Farms is striving to breed hardy, stylish, well covered goats. We have a small herd consisting of quality colored and white angoras.
I love these goats for their quirky personalities who suit
me just fine. The bucks are always full of themselves,
but are gentle and easy going herd sires. The does are
protective mothers, but are gentle with the other kids.
And the kids are just tooo much fun! Aside from
individual personalities each animal has a fiber quality all
it's own. Whether open or flat lock, smooth, silky,
soft, and dense they rarely have a bad hair day!

MOBI:
2002 creme dark belly. CSPN Wolf x CHF
Victoria
Mobi is the Grand Ol' Man of 8 yrs. His
fiber this fall shear was awesome, it is
still soft and silky with luster galore! He is possibly the
sweetest buck I have ever met, he never
challenges, only wants rubs and scratches.
He is just a big ol' teddy bear. I am
blessed to have him live here at Pleasant
Hill Farm. . . Thanks Mobi

RED
LIPS: Solid Red. Kair Ian x
WGC Gemini - Since I keep a
small herd I have only 2 herd sires. Like
peas in a pod, consistent coverage, density,
shine and conformation. All you could ask
for. Oh, plus personality. The friendliest
bunch of kids all-round. Red is a very nice
buck and his kids are proving it. Good job
Red Lips (his name came from a movie I
like). Our two boys are a pleasure to be
around. Good Job Guys~

LIL:
This old gal has out
produced herself for at least 3 generations, and
I have them all. I don't think I am stuck in a
rut, but when you have something that works why
change. Rose her doe kid was 1st place out of
14 at OFFF in Sept. I can't argue with that.
Lil's offspring speak for themselves. Lil will have a forever
home here and probably most of her kids will
too. I wish I could give credit where it is
due, but in all my searching I have not been
able to come up with a past for her. She is a
teenager tho. She will never want by me.
Thanks Lil~

Jill's Lil
x HRF Karlton 4/2005 -
silvery dense fiber is just one of the
reasons she passed her inspection with
flying colors. As you can see by the
pictures she also did extremely well at
OFFF "09". Although the judge said she was
"quite fit" I will admit that our animals
don't have a food shortage.
This is another of Lils daughters, she
truly is a beauty. Jill gave us a
buck and doe kid from Red.

Lucy:
CSPN
Mobi x
Lil 3/2006, "I love Lucy" She has the most
incredible fiber. It is so soft and dense with
great character. And its hard to beat that luster.
Her fiber is sold before she is ever sheared. It
is lovely to spin and when its dyed it takes on a
whole different dimension.

Memo: CSPN
Mobi x HRF Jill White c/f doe.
Well actually she does have color showing, she
has one brown spot on her nose. But her fiber
is where the
rubber meets the road. It is luscious!
The doll hair people love it! I have sent some
off for processing. It is a dream to spin.

 |
Rose
PHF Red Lips x PHF Lil (3/1/09) she is the
daughter of my all time favorite doe Lil. Rose
has the most luscious fiber. There is nothing
NOT to like about Rose! She has always been
friendly. If she will just leave me alone when
I go in the pen~ I am not sure she can replace
her mother, but I am sure she will give it
a shot.

Spun
Sugar is a lovely 2008 Reg. white
yearling. Her fiber is just as her name
implies, soft, silky, and incredibly dense with lots
of character. She is shy, until the grain comes out
and then look out, she will eat off your back
pockets! She is a keeper.

Kira
MHF Cavalier x MHF 425 (1/16/09) Kira came to
live with us after
Black Sheep Gathering in 2009.
Not to mention, she took 3rd place at the
Nationals 2009. Pretty sweet! She is just a
super little doe kid. I love her black, soft,
silky curls. I call her my "little
Nubian" you can probably guess why
(is that Kira I hear? Yep!) She will be held
over for breeding till fall 2010. Kira has
outstanding lines & we are very excited to have
her at our farm. You go Girl!

Goat Info
Research, Research, Research!! Do your homework before you buy. Be prepared to invest your time in any animal you consider purchasing.
- Before you bring home your angora goat make sure your fencing is adequate. Goats love to expand their horizons, and may impose themselves on your neighbors and their prized rose bushes. At the first drop of rain your goats will head for shelter it’s important to have plenty of sheltered space for each animal.
- Make sure that fresh water is always available.
- Salt is a must.
- Feeding good quality hay will result in good quality fiber. Doing you research in this area will greatly benefit your animals and give you piece of mind. There is a never ending battle between the hay and the fleece but careful placement and good feeders can minimize this problem. You will find what works best for your animals.
- A little about grain. I don’t feed much. It’s used as enticement and treats on our farm.
- This is what has worked for me and my herd hopefully these guidelines are helpful for you.
- The F.A.Q
page will have additional information.
- Feel free to
call or e-mail any time with any questions. I
am more than willing to share any information
that will help you with quality care for your
animals.
